“That was unfortunate. That was essentially an exchange with our fans out in front of us,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “Present was a swarm of Cowboys fans—not Jets fans, our fans. The entire stadium was brimming with enthusiasm for the Cowboys.”
He further emphasized that the gesture was completely unintentional, occurring amid the elation following the team’s final touchdown. “I simply showed the wrong digit,” he noted. “It was inadvertently performed. This is sincere. If you want to call it unplanned, you can. But it got resolved pretty quick.”
